A fire broke out on Mahismal mountain near the Ellora region on Sunday around 8 pm, sources said. The blaze reportedly continued late into the night, raising concern among residents in the surrounding areas.
According to preliminary information, the fire was first noticed during the evening hours and gradually spread across parts of the mountainous terrain on the Ellora-facing slope of Mahismal hill. Sources suspect that the fire may have been triggered due to careless disposal of cigarettes or other flammable materials by locals or visitors in the area. However, the exact cause is yet to be confirmed. The incident occurred on the side of the mountain facing the Ellora Caves. Authorities are yet to assess the extent of damage, and further details are awaited.
