A wedding celebration turned tragic in Ranjangaon Shenpunji, Gangapur tehsil, after a 17-year-old boy lost vision in his left eye when a firecracker struck him during a haldi ceremony.

Vedant Ingale, a Class 10 student, was watching the DJ music and fireworks from the balcony of his house on Wednesday night around 10.30 pm when a firecracker suddenly flew towards him and directly hit his left eye. The impact caused severe injury and heavy bleeding. Family members immediately rushed him to a private hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, where doctors conducted emergency surgery. However, despite medical efforts, it was confirmed that his left eye had been permanently damaged. Vedant lives in Ranjangaon Shenpunji with his parents and elder sister. His father works in a private job to support the family. What was meant to be a wedding celebration of Aniket Borade turned into a life-changing tragedy for the teenager. The incident has triggered anger among residents in the area, who have demanded strict legal action against those responsible for the reckless bursting of firecrackers. Locals are also calling for clear regulations on the use of fireworks and loud DJ systems during public and private celebrations. Family members alleged that no one from the event came forward to check on the injured boy, further deepening public outrage. A case has been registered at the MIDC Waluj police station, and further investigation is underway.
