An Eicher truck (MH-14 LX 5953) carrying firecrackers from Ahmedabad to Latur caught fire near Balanagar Phata, Paithan tehsil, after hitting a pothole about 1 km from Dhorkin on Wednesday around 3.15 pm.
The impact ignited small firecrackers, causing explosions. The driver quickly moved the truck away, allowing both occupants to escape safely. The Padampura fire brigade arrived promptly, controlled the blaze, and soaked remaining firecrackers. Traffic on Paithan Road was briefly disrupted. The truck suffered extensive damage. Amid the chaos, some people attempted to steal firecrackers, but responsible citizens intervened and kept the crowd away while the cleaner removed a gas cylinder from the cabin.
