An attempt to suppress a firing incident by portraying it as an accident was uncovered by Waluj police, leading to the arrest of the accused and seizure of a country-made pistol and live cartridges.

The incident occurred around 11.15 pm on February 6 near Shivrai Phata between Limbejalgaon Toll Naka and Waluj. Mahesh Pawar (23) of Bajajnagar sustained a bullet injury to his right thigh and was admitted to Government Medical College and Hospital(GMCH) by Azhar Sayed (40) of Ansar Colony, Padegaon, who falsely claimed it was an accident. Following the MLC report, police initiated an inquiry. After Pawar was declared fit, his statement was recorded. During interrogation, Sayed admitted that the pistol accidentally discharged while he was handling it near Sapna Hotel. A search of Sayed’s residence led to the recovery of a country-made pistol worth Rs 30,000 and three live cartridges worth Rs 3,000, concealed in a blue drum. Material worth Rs 33,000 was seized and a case has been registered. Police said the truth surfaced due to prompt action despite attempts to mislead authorities.
