Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

An IndiGo flight from Navi Mumbai circled the city for nearly 45 minutes on Wednesday night due to strong winds and heavy rain but could not land and returned. With no immediate replacement aircraft available, it finally arrived at 3.30 am on Thursday nearly seven hours late.

Passengers bound for Navi Mumbai from the city waited overnight at the airport; some cancelled their travel. Several incoming passengers opted for the regular morning Mumbai–Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar flight instead.

Rajasthan governor arrived by morning flight

Several public representatives, including Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde, were scheduled to travel on the Navi Mumbai–Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar flight. After the aircraft returned to Navi Mumbai, Governor Bagde and others travelled to the city on the regular morning Mumbai–Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar flight on Thursday.

“Unnecessary burden”

“The flight returned and no aircraft was available. Though rescheduled for 3.30 am, I chose the morning flight. The Navi Mumbai service is becoming a burden,” said passenger Anil Irawane.
