The first phase of summer has already started scorching city residents in the afternoon. This extreme heat has directly impacted nature, with seven fire incidents reported across the city within just six hours. Notably, fires broke out in trees, bushes, and grass at five locations, including Daulatabad. Meanwhile, a garbage fire in Naregaon spread to a shop.

On Wednesday night and early Thursday morning, the weather remained cool. However, by Thursday afternoon, intense heat waves were felt across the city. According to Sunil Nikalje, an assistant meteorologist at Chikalthana Observatory, the cold winds from West Bengal influenced the weather on Wednesday and Thursday, causing a six-degree temperature drop at night. By 8 am, the temperature was recorded at 12.4°C, while between 11 am and 6 pm, the maximum temperature reached 35.6°C. In the first half of March, temperatures are expected to rise to 37°C.

House catches fire in Konkanwadi

At 6.30 pm on Thursday, a fire broke out at the residence of Dr Deepak Lohia in Samadhan Colony, Konkanwadi, located above a hospital. Fire officer Dipraj Gangawane rushed to the scene and brought the fire under control within half an hour. The initial suspicion is that the fire started from the prayer room. The family lost two laptops, religious items from the prayer room, a massage machine, electrical wires, and a sound system in the blaze.

Fires in trees and grass afternoon

12 pm. Trees caught fire in Abdimandi, Daulatabad.

1.30 pm. Large patches of grass caught fire in Himayat Bagh.

1.45 pm. Trees in the Gautam Buddha Caves area of the university caught fire.

2.15 pm. Dry trees in Siddharth Garden caught fire.

3.26 pm. Garbage caught fire in the RTO area.

Garbage fire spreads to a shop

In Naregaon, a shop caught fire due to burning garbage. Initially, the fire started in the garbage near the shop owned by Kaiser Khan. As the fire spread, it engulfed the shop as well, according to fire officer Sominath Bhosale.

Temperature fluctuations continue

March 3: Highest recorded temperature of this summer so far.

March 6: A sudden seven-degree drop at night brought cooler weather.

Thursday: Maximum temperature recorded at 35.6°C, minimum at 12.4°C.

Wednesday: Maximum temperature was 34.4°C, while the minimum was 19.4°C.
