The global appeal of Indian culture and traditions was once again evident during a recent wedding ceremony in the city. The occasion was the marriage of Shivani from the Nandgaonkar family and Ripoo Singh, which turned into a special cultural exchange as foreign guests from across the seas participated in the celebrations in true Maharashtrian style.

The guests were accorded a traditional Indian welcome by Kulswamini Pratishthan, known for its social and cultural initiatives. The reception was led by president Vilas Korde along with Aviraj Korde, Chandramuni Jaybhay, Anil Gavande, Achyut Kulkarni and Prahlad Gaikwad, who felicitated the international visitors.

Guests immerse themselves in Maharashtrian festivities

Tourists from France, Russia and Germany including Xavier Herter, Emily Law Najan, Alex, Lyalita and Peer Henz — not only attended the wedding but actively took part in the ceremonies. From applying mehendi on their hands to dancing to Marathi songs during the ‘Sangeet Rajni’ programme, the visitors enthusiastically embraced the celebrations. They also relished authentic Maharashtrian cuisine and appreciated its flavours.

Extending wishes beyond Language barriers

In a heartwarming gesture, the guests conveyed their wishes to the bride and groom in Russian and French, expressing gratitude for the warmth of Indian hospitality. Members of both families and wedding attendees welcomed the unique initiative with loud applause, making the ceremony a memorable cross-cultural celebration.
