Two foreign students allegedly harassed a woman riding with her husband on MGM Road by making obscene gestures and remarks. The woman confronted them and slapped one student, following which the duo reportedly assaulted the couple. A mob gathered and beat the students before police intervened. The incident occurred around 11 am on Friday near MGM Hospital, but no FIR was registered as the victim refused to lodge a complaint, said police inspector Atul Yerme. According to Cidco police, the woman initially ignored the behaviour but reacted as it escalated. The students, natives of Sudan in Africa, have been studying in the city for several years and recently enrolled in a reputed institution for B.Com after attending a college near Delhi Gate. They were taken into custody, and three of their friends later reached the police station. Mayor Sameer Rajurkar, passing by, stopped to review the situation and spoke with the crowd. Assistant police inspector Yogesh Gaikwad and his team shifted the students to the station. Police inspector Yerme also urged the victim to file a complaint, but she declined.
