For forest range officer Sachin Talekar (45), posted in the Lingdari–Sarola area and resident of Pargaonkarnagar, Pisadevi Road, Friday’s Maharashtra Day flag hoisting turned out to be his last public duty.

After returning home in the scorching afternoon heat, his health suddenly deteriorated. Family members rushed him to a hospital, where doctors declared that he had died due to a heart attack. A native of Gandheli, Talekar had joined the Forest Department in 2010 on compassionate grounds following his father’s demise, serving initially as a forest guard. In 2020, he was promoted and worked in the social forestry division at Ambad. In 2024, he was transferred to the Lingdari forest range.

He is survived by his mother, wife, daughter, and son. His last rites were performed on Saturday morning at the crematorium in Ambedkarnagar. Chief conservator of Forests Pramodchand Lakra, along with forest department officials and relatives, were present to pay their respects.
