Four persons have been arrested for allegedly robbing a classes operator in the Cidco area. The accused were produced before a court, which remanded them to police custody till April 30, informed police inspector Atul Yerme.
The incident occurred on the night of April 23 around 10.30 pm. The complainant, Pradeep Nandedkar (49), a classes operator and resident of Gajratnagar, N-8, Cidco, was walking between Omkar Gas and Baliram Patil School when an autorickshaw (MH 20 DC 3074) stopped beside him near Surabhi Hotel. One person stepped out and allegedly tried to force him into the rickshaw, saying, “Where are you going? I will drop you.” Nandedkar refused, stating that he was out for a walk and did not wish to board the vehicle. The rickshaw then moved a short distance ahead, where four persons got down and stood talking.
As Nandedkar approached, one of the accused confronted him, grabbed his collar and demanded Rs 100 for expenses. When nothing was found in his pocket, the accused snatched a five-gram gold ring from his finger and fled in the rickshaw. A case was subsequently registered at the Cidco police station.
