Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

Four men who allegedly brandished a sword inside a bar on Paithan Road to avoid paying a liquor bill and looted cash from the manager have been arrested by Satara police from Beed.

The accused Vikas Rahatwad (28), Sarang Tarange (both resident of Kanchanwadi), Shivaji Kasbe and Vijay Mind (both from Nakshatravadi) allegedly assaulted staff at KA Brew House bar on March 21. They threatened customers by waving a sword, skipped a bill of Rs 14,333 and robbed Rs 5,000 from the manager before fleeing. Under the guidance of police inspector Krishna Shinde, officers collected CCTV footage which showed the accused escaping towards Beed. Acting on intelligence inputs, police laid a trap and arrested them, seizing a car, swords and cash.

Money squandered at Beed Kala Kendra

After the incident, the accused reportedly stayed at a kala kendra in Beed and spent lavishly. Tarange, who claims to be a lawyer, owns the car used in the crime and has prior assault cases. Vikas Rahatwad had allegedly murdered a friend on September 12, 2021, and was recently out on bail when he committed the offence again.

Lead from a single phone number

In another related case dated March 18, catering businessman Sagar Sardar was allegedly robbed on Link Road after chilli powder was thrown into his eyes. One accused had prior knowledge of his cash and jewellery. A new SIM card obtained in a relative’s name was used to contact him. Police traced the suspects through that number and arrested Pawan Zhalke (30), Akshay Zhalke (22) and Yuvraj alias Pandya Meher, all residents of Valadgaon.
