Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar
Four individuals, including the president of the Dharamveer Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raje Shaurya Pratishthan, were detained by Kranti Chowk police on Sunday afternoon for attempting to enter Khultabad despite being banned. The group, demanding the sealing of Aurangzeb’s tomb, was intercepted and later released with a notice before being escorted out of the district, said PI Sunil Mane.
The detained individuals were identified as Balraje Aware (Mahakal, Ambad tehsil), Pravin Dikale (Tandulwadi, Kalamb tehsil, district Dharashiv), Sandeep Chalk (Kej, District Beed), and Ganesh Pawar (Mahakal, Ambad tehsil). A case has been registered against them at Kranti Chowk Police Station for violating the entry restriction order. Balraje Aware had previously warned that Aurangzeb’s tomb must be sealed by March 23, failing which he and his supporters would take matters into their own hands. This led to authorities imposing a ban on his entry into the district. Police received intelligence on Friday morning, that Aware and his associates Pravin Nangare, Sambhaji Aghav, and Rajshree Umbre had traveled from Mumbai to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Acting on this, officers intercepted them near Maliwada, issued a notice to Aware, and released him.
Police surveillance and arrest
On Sunday, police received further confidential information that Aware and Jayashree Umbre Patil were en route to Kranti Chowk. In response, Inspector Sunil Mane, along with officers Mangesh Jagtap, Praveena Yadav, Pawan Chaudhary, five PSIs, 25 constables, a special branch officer, and four personnel, were deployed in the area. At around 1.30 pm, the police detained Aware and his associates as soon as they arrived in a vehicle (MH-14-FP-4).
Legal action taken
As the individuals violated the entry restriction order, a case was registered against them at Kranti Chowk Police Station. They were then issued a notice and escorted out of the district, as confirmed by Inspector Mane.
