A major traffic jam hit the Ajanta Caves ghat on the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar–Jalgaon highway on Sunday around 8.30 am after two heavy trucks broke down, halting traffic for nearly four hours.

Being a holiday, the ghat was crowded with tourists from across India and abroad, many of whom faced schedule disruptions. An ambulance with a critically ill patient was also stuck, while travelers struggled for food and water. Authorities cleared the trucks after four hours, but congestion continued until evening. Frequent breakdowns and accidents at the ghat have angered tourists and drivers, who ask, “When will these recurring problems be resolved?”
