Garbage piles have accumulated at several locations along major roads in the Chikalthana industrial area, creating serious sanitation and health concerns for residents, workers and students.

Despite regular visits by municipal garbage collection vehicles and waste segregation by citizens, the waste remains unattended. Recently repaired roads and beautification efforts have been marred by garbage heaps on both sides, causing foul smell and unhygienic conditions. Thousands commute through the area daily, raising fears of mosquito breeding and health risks. The situation in this key industrial zone reflects poorly on the municipal corporation’s sanitation system, alleged citizens.
