Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Residents of Cidco faced a day of disruption on Thursday due to a gas leak incident. As a precautionary measure, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) cut power supply in the adjoining areas from 9:30 am to 6 pm. While this prevented potential accidents, residents experienced further power outages in the evening, causing frustration.

The gas leak, prompting the power cut, affected areas like Cidco N-3, Town Centre, parts of MGM premises, Connaught Place, and Court premises. Power was restored at 6 pm upon receiving clearance from the fire brigade. However, the evening again saw frequent disruptions, disrupting normalcy till 9 pm.

MSEDCL attributed these additional outages to precautionary measures related to the tanker's relocation to Chikalthana MIDC for unloading. Power supply in the area was temporarily cut off as a safety measure.

Municipal administrator G Sreekanth appreciated the efforts of MSEDCL personnel, garlanding engineers and employees for their quick action.
