Aurangabad, March 4:

The annual fair on the occasion of Mahashivratri at the Ghrishneshwar Mahadev temple Ellora, has been cancelled due to Covid-19. The decision was announced after the trustees of Ghrishneshwar Devasthan met the district collector in-charge Dr Anant Gavhane on Thursday.

The Mahashivratri will be observed on March 11. At present, the number of corona patients is rapidly increasing. As a result, there is a possibility of further spread of the deadly virus. Hence all programmes have been cancelled with immediate effect. Gavhane said that only trustees and priests will worship the Shivling on the occasion of Mahashivratri. The trustees have also been instructed to hold the palanquin ceremony in the temple premises.
