Aurangabad, June 3:

An eight-year-old girl going on motorcycle died after a dash by a tanker on Mumbai – Nagpur Road near Teesgaon Khavdya Dongar area on Thursday at around 11 am. The deceased has been identified as Namrata Dilip Shirsath (8, Teesgaon area). Her parents, brother and cousin, were saved in this accident and sustained minor injuries.

Dilip Mohan Shirsath (35, Teesgaon), his wife Jayashree (30), son Siddharth (12), daughter Namrata (8) and Jayashri’s brother’s daughter Snehal Ramdas Bhosale (6) were going to Teesgaon on the motorcycle (MH 20 BD 6467). A fuel tanker (MH 22 AH 3344) coming from Manmad and going to Tirthpuri, Ambad hit the motorcycle. Namrata came under the tyres of the tanker and died on the spot. The other four persons on the motorcycle fell on the road due to which they were saved and sustained minor injuries. The tanker driver after the accident, fled away from the scene. The nearby residents rushed the injured to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). After receiving the information, PI Prashant Potdar, API Mangalsingh Ghunawat, head constable Tukaram Pawar and others rushed and inspected the spot.

Meanwhile, the tanker driver tried to flee away from the scene. The nearby residents, Nitin Panbisre and others, chased him and nabbed him. The driver Krushna Subhash Bodkhe (23, Tunki, Achalgaon, Vaijapur) has been handed over to the police. A case has been registered at the Waluj MIDC police station.
