A 20-year-old woman was killed and her mother sustained critical injuries after a speeding car rammed their two-wheeler on the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar - Jalgaon highway near Maulali Baba Dargah on Saturday around 3.03 pm.

The deceased has been identified as Shifa Anjum Shaikh (20, Mujeeb Colony, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar). According to police, Shifa was travelling with her mother, Shabana Shaikh, on a two-wheeler (MH-20 GF 0357) from Phulambri towards Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar when a speeding car (MH-20 FK 1002) hit their vehicle near the dargah. The impact flung both riders some distance from the spot. Locals rushed to their aid and shifted them to hospital. However, Shifa was declared dead, while her mother remains in a critical condition and is undergoing treatment at Ghati Hospital. Phulambri police conducted a panchnama at the scene and further investigation is underway.
