Marathi cinema is evolving with authentic content, diverse storytelling, and stronger social awareness. However, challenges remain in distribution, limited cinemas, and consistent outreach, said experts on Thursday. The Ajanta-Ellora International Film Festival (AIFF) featured 18 national and international films, the Marathwada Short Film Competition, and a panel discussion on “The Changing Face of Marathi Cinema.”

Films in French, Spanish, English, Italian, Kannada, Arabic, Tulu, German, Tamil, and Persian (Iranian) were screened, offering audiences a global cinematic experience. The festival also serves as a platform connecting international talent with local audiences.
