Aurangabad, March 8:

Deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar in his budget speech on Monday, announced that physiotherapy and occupational therapy colleges would be established at 17 government medical colleges, including Aurangabad.

The Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) proposal was sent back many times for technical problems and shortcomings.

The proposal was prepared under the guidance of GMCH dean Dr Kanan Yelikar. Occupational expert Dr Satish Maslekar took the follow up of the proposal frequently. The pending proposals will see the day of light.

As per the proposal, a five-storey building will come up between Government Dental College and Hospital and GMCH Out Patient Department at the cost of Rs 38 crore.

The Occupational and Physiotherapy will have 30 intakes each. Dr Satish Maslekar said that Medical Education Minister Amit Deshmukh enquired about the proposal a few days ago.

COVID patients experience disease of the lungs or mental stress after the treatment. Post-COVID Counseling and Treatment Center will be set up in the district.
