Aurangabad, April 2:

Every year thousands of devotees participate in the special worship of Good Friday. However, for the second year in a row, priests of all sects in the Christian community broadcasted Good Friday prayers and messages online for devotees. The devotees stayed in their homes and participated in the prayer and received the message. The curbs are in force due to the fresh rise in Covid-19 cases in the district.

Good Friday is the day when Christ was crucified, which is followed by Easter on Sunday marking the day of Christ's resurrection. Every year, special prayers take place on Good Friday, in the presence of thousands of devotees in churches across the city and district. However, the local administration imposed restriction on the congregations at places of worship. Hence the prayer and message for Good Friday were broadcast online between 12 pm to 3 pm. Bishop of Marathwada Dharma Prant, M U Kasab delivered a special message online to urban and rural congregations in Aurangabad and Jalna districts. Similarly, Dr Ambrose Ribello, Bishop of the Catholic Church also delivered a special message on Good Friday in Aurangabad. The devotees stayed in their home and participated in online devotion.
