The Ministry of MSME is ramping up efforts to make Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) globally competitive through the MSME Competitive (Lean) Scheme (MCLS). The initiative promotes lean manufacturing practices to minimize waste, boost productivity, and improve profitability while ensuring quality and sustainability in city.

The Government of India covers up to 90% of the implementation cost for lean techniques, with an additional 5% support for MSMEs in SFURTI clusters, units owned by Women/SC/ST entrepreneurs, or those registering through Industry Associations or OEMs. The National Productivity Council (NPC) has been driving this transformation for over 15 years, benefiting several MSMEs in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar with support from CMIA and MASSIA. To accelerate lean adoption, NPC Mumbai (under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India) is organizing two key events in March 2025. The first, an Awareness Program on MCLS for MSMEs, will take place on March 4 at MASSIA, Waluj, aiming to help MSMEs adopt lean practices for better efficiency and competitiveness. The second, a five-day Consultants Training for MCLS, will be held from March 17 to 21 at Marathwada Auto Cluster, MIDC, Waluj. This intensive training will equip professionals with expertise in 5S, Kaizen, Kanban, Value Stream Mapping, Just-In-Time (JIT), Industry 4.0 applications, and sustainability practices. Successful participants will receive certification and become eligible for empanelment as Lean consultants under MCLS. MSMEs looking to streamline operations and stay ahead in the global market are encouraged to seize this opportunity. For more details, interested participants can register at: https://lean.msme.gov.in/Home/ProgramRegisterTC?ProgramID=LEANTC106&OA_id=119.
