Aurangabad, June 14:

The State Government informed the Aurangabad bench of Bombay High Court that it would submit the information about what action was taken on 50 per cent vacant posts in Government Hospitals.

According to details, MP Imtiaz Jaleel filed public interest litigation (PIL) in the HC in the backdrop of Covid situation and vacant posts and lack of medical facilities in Government hospitals of the district.

The HC directed the Government on June 7 to start the recruitment for the vacant posts in the hospitals in the district in a week and complete it between six to eight weeks. The Government informed the court that information would be submitted.

The HC granted permission to make Maharashtra Public Service Commission which recruits grade-I and II posts in the case.

A special bench that was formed for Covid related cases will hold a hearing on June 16.

MP Jaleel on Monday sought permission to file a civil plea and making Aurangabad Municipal Corporation a respondent. The court granted the permission. The MP who is a party-in person, presented his say. Adv Sujit Karlekar appeared for the Government.

It may be noted that giving the reference to news items published in this newspaper recently, MP Jaleel filed a civil plea to draw attention towards the lack of facilities in Government Medical College and Hospital.

He also requested the court to direct the administration concern to fill vacant posts in Government Dental College and Hospital.

The MP withdrew the petition as the court had admitted a plea related to mucormycosis, but he was allowed to file an intervention application in a criminal PIL case on Wednesday.
