Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the city police have decided to close five major routes for all types of vehicular movement throughout the day due to processions, torch rallies, and other programmes being organised. Citizens have been urged by the police department to use alternative routes during this period. However, vehicular movement on the Kranti Chowk flyover will remain operational.

In the backdrop of the Shiv Jayanti celebrations to be observed on February 19, Thursday in honour of Maharashtra’s revered deity Shivray, various organisations and institutions have made elaborate preparations. Cultural and social programmes have been organised, and the youth will present traditional performances such as dhol and lezim to pay tribute to Maharaj. As every year, the main programme will be held at Kranti Chowk. In addition, a total of 95 processions and 7 torch rallies will be taken out across the city on Thursday, along with tribute programmes at 35 locations through stage arrangements. Moreover, tribute events will be held at 61 statues of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj across the city throughout the day.
