Aurangabad, May 22:

Before announcing the lockdown, chief minister Uddhav Thackeray had announced a package for rickshaw drivers, hawkers and workers. Grants of Rs 1500 each were allotted for subsistence of the street vendors. Accordingly, grants have been deposited in the bank accounts of 11,603 vendors in the city.

In March and April, the coronavirus increased rapidly. Therefore, the state government immediately decided to impose strict restrictions. While enforcing these strict restrictions, CM Thackeray announced a package for the economically weaker sections and announced Rs 1,500 each for street vendors, workers and rickshaw drivers. The urban development department also issued a GR to implement this declaration immediately. Under the guidance of municipal administrator Astik Kumar Pandey, additional commissioner B B Nemane, deputy commissioner Aparna Thete, assistant commissioner Nandkishore Bhombe, Surendra Patil and Bharat More registered 14,103 vendors in the city. Out of which 11,603 hawkers have applied for loans under Pradhan Mantri Atmanirbhar Yojana and Rs 1500 has been deposited directly in their bank accounts.
