Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday approved the revised development plan for the famous Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga Temple at Elloral. The total proposed cost of the project has now risen to Rs 210.45 crore, including an additional allocation of Rs 53.82 crore.
The development plan includes construction of modern accommodation facilities for devotees, a waiting hall for darshan queues, shopping complex, function hall, ghats and a 1.6-km outer bypass road. Fadnavis directed officials to expedite the implementation of these works during a meeting of the pilgrimage site development apex committee held at Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai.
District collector Vinay Gowda G.C. and additional chief secretary Venugopal Reddy attended the meeting, while divisional commissioner G. Sreekanth, MLA Prashant Bamb and district planning officer Bharat Wayal participated online.
The Rs 210 crore project includes works to be undertaken by departments such as Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran, MSEDCL, tourism and public works.
Meanwhile, an additional development plan worth Rs 301.54 crore has also been prepared for Parli Vaijnath Jyotirlinga Temple. The project will be implemented in three phases, including grand entrance gates, queue management facilities, meditation centres, rejuvenation of ancient pilgrimage sites, food courts, CCTV systems, a grand Shiva statue, museum, amphitheatre and laser light-and-sound shows.
