Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The state government has inquired whether the temporarily established Gunthewari Cell in the municipal corporation's Town Planning section should be kept open year-round. The government has also asked the TP section to provide feedback on this matter.

In December 2020, the state government introduced the Gunthewari Scheme to regularise unauthorised constructions up until that date. Under this scheme, more than 20,000 properties have been regularised so far. Citizens had to pay fees at the ready reckoner rates while implementing the scheme. The municipal corporation waived 50% of the fees within its jurisdiction, which encouraged a large number of citizens to benefit from the scheme. It is expected that after approval of the new development plan (DP), a significant number of Gunthewari files will be submitted to the municipal corporation. Consequently, the state government is considering permanently continuing the section in municipal corporations and municipalities. The Town Planning section of the municipal corporation has been asked to provide feedback on this proposal, said the sources.
