What was petition about?

Sanjay Ramkrishna Bhosale, working as a Headmaster at a ZP Primary School in Sindon village of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar tehsil, was eligible for promotion to the post of Extension Officer as per seniority rules.

However, since the Supreme Court has made it mandatory for all teachers to pass either the TET or the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) and has also made clearing this test compulsory for promotions. His name was not included in the preliminary list of teachers eligible for promotion to the post of Extension Officer released by the ZP.

He submitted a memorandum to the Education Officer (Primary), requesting that his name be included in the list. He had also urged the ZP to consider his request, noting that the Supreme Court had granted a deadline of September 1, 2027, to clear the TET. As nothing was done, he approached the High Court through adv Devidas R. Shelke.

After hearing the matter, the High Court issued the interim order. The bench also directed the ZP to submit its written reply beforehand. Adv S R Dheple represented the ZP. The next hearing on this petition has been placed on April 24.
