Aurangabad, May 3:

Aurangabad bench of Bombay High Court comprising Justice Ravindra Ghuge and Justice B U Debadwar sought information from Government pleader about what kind of case was registered against MLA Sanjay Shirsath and his activists for flouting COVID norms.

According to details, the State Government imposed strict curbs to contain COVID spread under ‘Break the Chain’ guidelines. MLA Shirsath, along with his 40 activists, performed ‘Bhoomipujan’ water pipeline at Jai Bhavani Society in Bajajnagar. A news item about flouting COVID norms was published by this newspaper on April 27. The court took notice of the news item. During today’s hearing, D R Kale represented the Government while adv Santosh Chapalgaonkar was present for Aurangabad Municipal Corporation.

The court observed that its earlier orders about wearing helmet, mask and carrying ‘Aadhar Card’ are not being implemented properly. The next hearing will be held on May 6.
