Heatstroke-like conditions in the district

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

As April draws to a close, intense heatwaves have gripped Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district, with both day and night temperatures rising significantly. This has led to various health issues among residents, creating heatstroke-like conditions.

Between April 27 and 28, 2026, the district recorded maximum temperatures of up to 44.0°C. Against this backdrop, around 12 patients from rural areas were admitted to government health centres with heatstroke-like symptoms. All patients received necessary treatment and were later discharged.

The heatwave has persisted over the past few days, with rural areas experiencing a more severe impact. Movement of people has reduced during afternoon hours, with residents avoiding stepping out unless necessary. According to the Meteorological Department, the intensity of the heat is likely to continue in the coming days, and a heatwave alert has been issued.

Important advisory for citizens:

Avoid going outdoors between 12 noon and 4 pm

Drink plenty of water and fluids

Consume light and easily digestible food

Use caps, scarves or umbrellas for protection

Take special care of children, the elderly and pregnant women

Symptoms of heatstroke: dizziness, nausea, excessive sweating or absence of sweating. Seek immediate treatment at the nearest government health centre if such symptoms occur.

The chief executive officer and district health officer of Zilla Parishad, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, have urged citizens to take necessary precautions and safeguard their health and that of their families.
