Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The city is witnessing searing heat with the maximum temperature crossing 40 degrees. The temperature will increase in the coming months. Considering this, the health experts urged the citizens, specially children and senior citizens to take care of their health while moving out of home.

Meanwhile, the Zilla Parishad Health Department has become alert to treat diseases caused by rising temperatures. Chief Executive Officer Ankit issued instructions to set up heatstroke rooms in all 53 primary health centres (PHCs) in the district and keep sufficient stock of medicines there. Heatstroke generally occurs in the district every year from April to June.

The experts said that if one starts feeling the pain of heatstroke, first drink plenty of water.

“After coming out of the sun, sit for a while and then drink water. Do not drink very cold, iced water. Keep the patient in an air-conditioned or open, well-ventilated room. There should be fans and coolers in the room. To bring down the patient's temperature, he/she should be bathed in cold water. The cold water bandages should be placed on the patient's forehead, ice packs should be applied. Saline should be given and doctors should be consulted as per the need,” they said. The heatstroke room will be kept operational for 24 hours a day.

Citizens should be careful while going out of the house. If one starts feeling the pain of heat stroke, consult a medical officer for medical advice or diagnosis. Children and the elderly should take special care.
