Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
In Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Bharat Ratna Dr B R Ambedkar had lived in the city for several years. Many memories of his stay are preserved in Milind College and the surrounding buildings. On Sunday morning, a Heritage Walk was organised in the Milind College premises, which witnessed a large turnout of citizens. The organisers paid tribute and revived memories of Dr Ambedkar.
The Heritage Walk was jointly organised by the Municipal Corporation, Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (Intach), and Milind College on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti. The guardian minister Sanjay Shirsat, mayor Sameer Rajurkar, standing committee chairman Anil Makariye, former mayor Rashid Mamu, deputy commissioner Ankush Pandhare, College Principal Dr Vaishali Pradhan, CSMC school headmaster Sanjeev Sonar, Intach’s Swapnil Joshi and Sanket Kulkarni were present.
Dr Pradhan shared information about the college building and its establishment. Intach’s Kulkarni provided detailed information to the dignitaries about Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s stay in the city and related memories. The info of rare photographs in the college premises as well as rare artefacts and photographs of Dr Babasaheb preserved in the museum established by the college was also shared on the occasion.
Musical tribute
The symphony band of the CSMC’s Priyadarshini School performed Bhimgeets. The Milind College band also presented melodious Bhimgeets. Refreshments were arranged by the Annamrita Foundation.
