Aurangabad, Jan 16:

An integrated Command and Control Centre (CCC) equipped with the network of 748 CCTV cameras was inaugurated by police constable Datta Ghule, in the presence of the guardian minister Subhash Desai, the environment minister Aditya Thackeray, the EGS minister Sandeepan Bhumre, the minister of state (MoS) for revenue Abdul Sattar, the commissioner of police Nikhil Gupta and the municipal commissioner A K Pandey, today evening.

The CCC is set up at the police commissionerate. The centre started with the functioning of 50 cameras, and very soon the functioning 160 more cameras would be started within a fortnight, it is learnt. Under the initiative of Safe City, the Aurangabad Smart City Development Corporation Limited (ASCDCL) funded the CCC by including it in the projects to be developed under Smart City Mission.

It so happened that the minister Aditya Thackeray told the police constable Datta Ghule (bodyguard of Bhumre) to inaugurate the centre, while he unveiled the plaque on occasion. The dignitaries also inspected the centre and the functioning of the CCTV cameras. Thackeray praised on seeing the centre equipped with police staff. The minister also obtained the details of the project from the police commissioner and the municipal commissioner while he was in the War Room. Shiv Sena leader Chandrakant Khaire, MLA Sanjay Shirsaat, MLC Ambadas Danve and many party office-bearers were present on occasion.

CCC to function 24x7

The centre will be functioning round the clock. There will 70 police personnel working in three shifts to monitor and keep an eye on the city's development through the CCTV cameras. The staff of the centre is given special training said the commissioner of police. Meanwhile, the CCC head will be directly reporting to the commissioner of police and the deputy commissioner of police regularly.

Ambitious Project

The CCC's network will comprise of 600 plain CCTV cameras and 100 PTZ cameras. The cost of the project is Rs 178 crore, and ASCDCL funded it. Through the CCTV cameras, the police attendants will keep an eye on the circles, crossroads, important roads, important places, worshipping places, statues of national leaders and great reformists, violations at traffic signals, entry and exit points of the city etc.
