Aurangabad, May 16:

“If Prime Minister Narendra Modi comes to power again, there will be a threat to integrity, progress, harmony and freedom of the country,” fears Dr Bhalchandra Mungekar, noted economist.

He was speaking in online lecture series on ‘Politics in Current Situation’ organised by Loksamvad Founder on Sunday. Tributes were paid to Congress MP Rajiv Satav at the beginning of the programme.

Dr Bhalchandra Mungekar said that the Congress Government entitled powers of Right to Education, Right to Information and Food Security to the public in its 11th five-year plan but failed to take them to common men.

“PM Modi took the benefit of the situation and came on power. Rahul Gandhi had hinted in February about COVID. PM Modi did not pay attention to it. Former PM Manmohan Singh sent a letter to PM Modi giving some suggestions. The PM did not show courtesy to reply to it. On the contrary, union Health Minister Dr Harshavardhan made fun of it. The way the Government is handling the situation is very dangerous,” he said.

Dr Mungekar said that conducting a public meeting for election and giving permission for ‘Kumbh Mela’ in COVID situation is a blunder. “When people lose trust in the judiciary, there will be unrest across the country,” he added. Foundation president Dr Rajesh Karpe made an introductory speech.
