Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

Homeless residents of Moolnivasinagar, Harsul, have launched a protest outside the District Collector’s office, demanding shelter. After their eviction under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, they set up stone stoves at the protest site and started living there.

The municipal corporation cleared Survey Nos. 216 and 217 in Harsul two days ago, displacing these families. Led by Advocate Vijay Wankhede of the People’s Party of India (Democratic), they vowed to stay until they get housing. Protesters, including Sandeep Jadhav and Gorakhnath Ghagare, submitted a memorandum to resident deputy collector Vinod Khirokar.
