Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

A housemaid, along with a minor accomplice, stole valuables worth Rs 2.09 lakh from her employer’s house. The theft took place between October 24, 2024, and February 1, 2025, in the Sangramnagar area. Satara Police registered a case on Saturday.

The accused have been identified as Shalini Gaikwad (Renukamata Temple area) and a minor boy. According to the complaint filed by Pallavi Bhingare ( Sangramnagar, Satara area), she had hired Shalini as a housemaid a year ago. Shalini used to work between 2 pm and 4 pm. Between October 24 and October 30, 2024, cash amounting to Rs 25,000 and a 10-gram gold chain went missing from Bhingare’s house. This raised suspicion, prompting her to install spy cameras in January 2025. On February 1 two mangalsutras (9g and 13g each) and a 12g pendant mangalsutra were stolen. When reviewing the footage, Bhingare discovered that Shalini and the minor accomplice had committed the theft. Upon questioning, the boy confessed to the crime. Bhingare confronted the accused and asked them to return the stolen valuables, but they ignored the demand, forcing her to file a police complaint. PSI Uttreshwar Munde is investigating the case.
