Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A 36-year-old housewife sustained multiple injuries on her entire body after she resisted a rape attempt by a pervert.
This shocking incident took place on Sunday evening. The accused who has been identified as Abhishek Tatyarao Navpute (19, Ghardon) was arrested by Chikalthana police on Tuesday.
Abhishek had been stalking the woman for the past several days. The housewife ignored him. She was working in the field in the evening on March 2. Abhishek went to the field and caught her throat and tried to rape her.
The woman resisted him strongly. Therefore, Abhishek grabbed her by the throat and threw her to the ground. He stabbed her more than 15 times with a knife in her face, stomach, neck, arms, and head. Even after that, he tried to rape her. However, when the victim fell unconscious, he threw a stone at her head and fled, thinking that she was dead.

After the mother-in-law of the victim, who was at the other end of the field, left for home, she found her daughter-in-law bleeding and unconscious on the field road.
The family members brought the woman to the city. As a hospital in the Gajanan Maharaj temple area refused to admit her, she was rushed to another private hospital.
After regaining consciousness on Monday night, she told the police everything. A case was registered against Abhishek. Police said that 60 stitches were given to her body.

Hiding in field
Abhishek left the spot thinking that the woman was dead.
He was hiding in the field near the village on Monday night when he came to know that a case was registered against him. Superintendent of Police Dr Vinay Kumar Rathod and Deputy Superintendent Pooja Nangre issued instructions for immediate action.
Police Inspector Ravikiran Darwade and PSI Satish Pandit searched for him and arrested him from the field. Abhishek is a 12th-standard failure. He will be produced in court on Wednesday.
