Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The hundreds of teachers appearing for the 'Central Teacher Eligibility Test' (CTET) across the State will be exempted from Zilla Parishad (ZP) and Panchayat Samiti (PS) elections duty.
The State Election Commission issued instructions to all District Collectors concerned on Tuesday evening.
Following the declaration of a three-day mourning period in the State due to the death of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, the polling date for the general elections of 12 ZPs and 125 PS under them was changed.
Accordingly, the polling will now be held on February 7, 2026, instead of February 5, 2026. The counting will be done on February 9 instead of earlier, on February 7. Since some teachers in the State will take the CTET on the same day.
The administration was in a fix since the CTET date clashed with the election dates. It will have to appoint employees from other departments at the last minute on the day of the election.
So, instructions have been given to the concerned District Collectors to exempt the teachers from election duty and make alternative arrangements.
Voting will be conducted at 2,282 polling stations in 63 guts, and 126 gans in the district from 7.30 am to 5.30 pm on February 7. The total number of voters is 18.73 lakh. This includes 9.79 lakh male and 8.93 lakh female voters.
