A court on Friday remanded Satyam Gawande (27, Chittepimpalgaon) to three days’ police custody for allegedly murdering his divorced wife at Shivsamarth Petrol Pump in Karmad. He was arrested within two hours of the crime. Police have seized the knife used in the attack and his motorcycle (MH-20 BH 9281).
The victim, Pooja Gawande, who worked at the petrol pump to support her two children, was allegedly attacked around 12.30 pm on April 9, when the accused slit her throat. The couple had married on November 5, 2025, at Arya Samaj Bhavan, Alandi. Pooja divorced him on February 14, 2026, through a bond paper agreement, reportedly due to repeated assaults, suspicion, and his opposition to her working. After the incident, relatives from both sides allegedly refused to conduct the last rites. Police performed the funeral at Begumpura crematorium in the presence of her two brothers. Further investigation is being carried out by police sub inspector Dilip Chaure and officers Vijay Jarwal and Rameshwar Khandagale.
