Aurangabad, June 30:

Despite repeated deadlines by the Supreme Court, the Mahavikas Aghadi government failed to submit the empirical date on OBC reservation. This resulted in cancellation of the political reservation of the Other Backward Class (OBCs). The Supreme Court never asked for information gathered by the census. Chhagan Bhujbal and Vijay Wadettiwar, ministers in the ruling state government were lying and blaming the Centre for covering up the failure, alleged MLA Atul Save in a press release issued on Wednesday.

MLA Save said that the Modi government has the information of the OBC's collected during the census. The Congress-NCP are making false allegations that the reservation was cancelled as the central government failed to provide this information. However, the Supreme Court in its decision on Krishnamurthy's petition has used the term empirical date, not census.

To cover up their failure, the ministers in the alliance government are spreading false information in the name of the Supreme Court. The BJP led Fadnavis government had issued an ordinance on July 31, 2019 to save the reservation of the OBC community. The Supreme Court also upheld the ordinance. After the coalition government came to power, it was necessary to complete the legal process required for the ordinance to become law.

However, due to delay by the Aghadi government, the ordinance could not be converted into law. In December 2019, the Supreme Court had asked the state government for empirical data on the OBC community. But the Aghadi government had delayed the process of collecting the date by setting up a backward commission, Save said. He also said that the alliance government should take immediate action to postpone the local body elections announced by the Election Commission, otherwise the state government should be ready to face the wrath of the OBC community, Save said in the statement.
