Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
On the occasion of World Heritage Day, a ‘Shivgaan’ programme organised on Saturday evening filled the Delhi Gate area with music and rhythm. The audience was deeply moved as the valour of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the inspiration of Swarajya, and the glory of history were brought alive through music. It may be noted that Maharaj passed through the Delhi Gate route while heading to Agra.
The event was organised jointly by the Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, the Directorate of Archaeology and Museums, and the Sahitya Sangeet Kala Manch.
The ‘Shivgaan’, based on melodious Shiv-geets written by poet D. Inamdar, composed by Shantibhushan Deshpande, and singers Vaibhav Pandey and Varsha Joshi turned out to be an outstanding musical performance. They were accompanied by Savyasachi Usmanpurkar, Kalyani Deshpande, Shantibhushan Deshpande (harmonium), Gajanan Dhumal (tabla), Girish Kale (flute), and Gopal Khamone (pakhawaj). The audience felt pride on listening to the stories of Shivaji Maharaj’s glory and bravery. Shrikanth Umarikar anchored the programme and explained the significance of each song.
