Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
To promote fitness and preventive healthcare among citizens, the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, will organise the IMA Healthy City Marathon 2026 on Sunday, February 1.
The marathon will feature runs for all age groups, including 2 km and 3 km family fun runs, along with 5 km and 10 km runs with timing chips. According to the organisers, the initiative aims to encourage physical activity, family participation and social bonding, while promoting the idea of a healthy city.
IMA members said that more than 150 participants have already registered. The marathon will begin at 6 am from the IMA hall in Samarthnagar and conclude at the Cidco bus stand.
IMA secretary Dr Yogesh Lakkas appealed to citizens and doctors to register early. He also advised participants to remain hydrated during the run and consume water mixed with salt or energy drinks to maintain energy levels.
Highlighting the health benefits of regular exercise, IMA treasurer Dr Shivaji Pole said that even half an hour of daily walking can significantly reduce the risk of several diseases. He added that the marathon is intended to motivate citizens to adopt walking and running as part of their daily routine.
Early-bird registration is currently open, and the registration fee will be revised after January 25. Interested participants can register online at:
