IMA women’s cricket league highlights fitness focus among women doctors

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

The Junoon Women’s Cricket League 2026, organised by the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, held on February 7 at Samruddhi Turf with participation from women doctors across the city. The tournament, conceptualised by IMA sports secretary Dr Gitesh Dalvi, saw 42 women doctors take part, balancing professional responsibilities with sporting engagement.

Six teams competed in the league matches. In the final, Super Queens, captained by Dr Megha Dama, won the champions title, while Chhava, led by Dr Sonali Savji, finished runners-up. Dr Sonali Savji was named Woman of the Series. Dr Vandana Kabra received the Best Batswoman award after scoring 84 runs, and Dr Priya Deshmukh was awarded Best Bowler.

The prize distribution ceremony was conducted by IMA president Dr Anupam Takalkar and secretary Dr Yogesh Lakkas. The tournament was inaugurated in the presence of Dr Yashwant Gade, Dr Yogesh Lakkas, Dr Ujjwala Dahiphale, Dr Sambhaji Chintale, Dr Anjali Gade, Mr Vedant Ratnaparkhi and Dr Gitesh Dalvi.

Organisers stated that the league encouraged fitness, teamwork and participation among women doctors.
