Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A policy regarding the Infrastructure Development Charges (IDC) within the limits of the Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MRDA) is set to be finalised, and the charges will soon be abolished. This has been a long-standing demand of builders and developers.
This decision will, however, have an impact on the revenue of the authority. The second meeting of the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Metropolitan Region Development Authority (CSMRDA) was held at Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Fadnavis approved the IDC policy finalisation, a proposal to delegate certain powers under the MRTP Act to the Metropolitan Commissioner and Executive Committee to speed up the process of modifications in development plans, transfer of government lands, land acquisition in the Waluj area and fundraising through Cidco.
The meeting also approved the revised budget estimates for 2025-2026 and the budget for 2026-2027 of the authority. The authority's income is showing an increase and a balanced budget has been presented for 2026-27 on the financial front.

Important decisions for
strengthening authority
The Metropolitan and Divisional Commissioners have been granted powers to undertake works, up to Rs 25 crore, within the authority limits, along with enhanced financial powers.
The authority currently has a fund of Rs 100 crore, from which decisions will be made for development works and road construction as per requirements. The Executive Committee has also been empowered regarding a new building for the Authority. After preparing a status report for the Metropolitan Region, the process of drafting a Vision Document will be initiated.
The Metropolitan Commissioner has been given the authority to fill vacant Class A and Class B officer posts from retired officers until they are filled at the government level. The meeting approved the delegation of powers to sub-committees for organisational restructuring and various projects.
It was also informed at the meeting that a Gunthewari Cell has been set up in accordance with the provisions of the Act of 2001 for the regularisation of Gunthewari.
