Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Manikchand Pahade Law College conducted the 19th State Level Inter-College Debate Competition on ‘Fourth Pillar of Democracy has Deviated from its Duty’ at Tapadia Natyamandir on Saturday.
Vice President of Marathwada Legal and General Education Society (MLGES) and senior lawyer Rajendra Deshmukh presided over the function. Incharge Principal of the college, Dr A N Kottapalle and others were present.
A total of 30 teams from various colleges in Maharashtra participated in this competition.
Justice Siddheshwar Thombre (Judge, Aurangabad Bench of Bombay High Court) inaugurated the competition, asserting that while debating in the competition, one should be aware of what to say and what not to say. Senior Journalist Sushil Kulkarni, lawyer Hanumant Patil, and Dr Sania Shiurkar were judges of the event.
Mayor Samir Rajurkar was the special guest for the prize distribution ceremony. Aparajita Agnihotri, Assistant Superintendent of Police (Rural), presided over the prize distribution ceremony. Adv Dr Kalpalata Patil-Bharswadkar, President of MLGES was also present. University of Mumbai won the first prize while Abhay Alshi was declared the best debater in the individual category.
