Ranjangaon Shenpunji grampanchayat is considered as most prosperous grampanchayat. Kantabai Jadhav has been elected as Sarpanch of this grampanchayat while Shivram Thombre as the deputy Sarpanch.
MLA Prashant Bamb has the dominance in Ranjangaon Shenpunji grampanchayat for the past one decade. Even now, Bamb provided his supremacy and clinched 14 out of 17 seats in the Grampanchayat elections while Shiv Sena had to be satisfied with only three seats. The Sarpanch post was reserved for OBC woman candidate while the strongest contestants were Kantabai Jadhav, Nanda Bade, Yogita Mahalkar and Kavita Jadhav. MLA Bumb called a meeting of the members and proposed to elect the Sarpanch and deputy Sarpanch without any opposition. Accordingly, Kantabai Jadhav and Shivram Thombre were given preferences.
A special meeting was called on Monday for the election of the Sarpanch. Kantabai Ashok Jadhav and Ashivini Kailas Hiwale filed nominations for the post of the Sarpanch and Shivram Thombre and Satyashila Surung for the deputy Sarpanch. Jadhav secured 14 votes, Hiwale 2 and one vote was cancelled. Similarly, Thombre secured 14 and Surung 3 votes.
Shivram Thombre, Pankaj Hiwale, Nandini Lohkare, Sainath Jadhav, Kavita Jadhav, Sairabano Syed, Ashok Jadhav, Kantabai Jadhav, Mohniraj Dhanwate, Yogita Mahalkar, Sanjivini Sadavarte, Bhimrao Kirthishahi, Nandabai Bade, Nirmala Pathade, Sandeep Manohare, Ashwini Hiwale and Satyasheela Jadhav and others were present. The election officer was Mandal officer Satish Bhadane and assistant was rural development officer S N Rohkare and Talathi Rahul Vanjari.
Jadhav has been elected as Sarpanch for the second time while Thombre was elected for the first time.
