Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

The city's temperature is gradually increasing, and the water demand has doubled. The Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) is not providing satisfactory water supply to the citizens. There is currently a loud outcry for water in many localities, and in the midst of this, the Smart City has tried to pat itself on the back through the Jal Bell app. In a survey conducted on this app, it seems that many citizens expressed satisfaction with the municipal water supply!

The city has been promised an increased water supply for over a year now. It was also said that this summer would be pleasant for the citizens. However, as summer has started, complaints have begun to arise in several localities, saying that they are not receiving as much water as before. A few years ago, the Smart City administration created the Jal Bell app. It was claimed that through this app, citizens would be provided information such as when water will come, whether there will be any delays, and so on. 60,000 citizens downloaded the app. However, complaints about the app not updating information have increased. Frustrated citizens have stopped using the app altogether.

It is said that citizens are satisfied:

A survey was conducted based on complaints regarding the water supply time through the Smart City's Jal Bell app. The survey received a good response from the citizens.

Smart City claims that more than 3,500 citizens registered their feedback on the app within just two days.

In the survey, citizens claimed that they regularly get information about water supply timings through the app, and if the water is going to be delayed, they receive notifications. However, 20 per cent of the citizens mentioned that they do not receive any notification about when the water will arrive.

Why citizen feedback?

Under the Swachh Bharat Mission, a Central Government team is expected to visit the city for inspection. It is being said that Smart City conducted this survey to show the municipal administration how it collects feedback from citizens regarding various services.
