Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: “Mahatma Kabir strongly opposed the then State and religious power. Through his couplets, he opposed economic discrimination, and hypocrisy and attacked superstition. Today, it is never possible to forget Kabir in all three roles of saint, reformer and poet,” said Indrajit Bhalerao, a scholar.
He was speaking on Kabir: Saint, Reformer and Poet,’ the first day of the three-day lecture series being organised by the Hindi Department and Student Welfare Department of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University jointly from March 3 to 5.
The programme was presided over by former Hindi Department Head Dr Madhav Sontakke. Student Development Board Director Dr Kailash Ambhure, former Department Head Dr Chandradev Kavade, coordinator Dr Sudhakar Shendge and Department Head Dr Sanjay Rathod were present. Indrajit Bhalerao said in the medieval period, saints and social reformers did a great work of enlightenment in India.
