Kannad court grants bail to truck driver

On the night of March 9, a truck carrying sugarcane overturned in the Kolaswadi Khandi area on the Kannad- Pishor route after the driver lost control over the steering. The accident resulted in 6 fatalities and 10 injuries. The injured truck driver has been granted bail by the Kannad court on Wednesday in connection with the incident.

On the night of March 9, a truck (bearing number GJ 10-TV 8386) carrying sugarcane for juice extraction from a farmer's field in Wakhod, Kannad Tehsil, was on its way to Jamnagar, Gujarat. While passing through the Kolaswadi Khandi area, the driver lost control, causing the truck to overturn. Six sugarcane workers from Satkund, who were sitting on the sugarcane and in the cabin, were crushed under the sugarcane and died. Besides, 10 people were injured in the accident, including the truck driver, Channa Hussain Ismail Bhai, and the cleaner, Umar Moosa, both residents of Jamnagar, Gujarat.

All the injured individuals were admitted to the government hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. On Wednesday at 11 am, the condition of the driver, Channa Hussain Ismail Bhai, improved, and he was discharged from the hospital. Afterwards, he was taken into custody by PSI Tilokchand Pawar of the Kannad City police station and presented before the Kannad court, which granted him bail. Meanwhile, the cleaner, Umar Moosa, was sent to his hometown of Jamnagar for further treatment.

9 injured persons discharged from the hospital

Out of the 10 injured in the accident, 9 have been discharged from the hospital. Meanwhile, Indalchand Premchand Chavan is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
