A 25-year-old man and his friend were seriously injured after being stabbed by three persons, including one unidentified accused, in Jawaharnagar area late at night on Wednesday.

The attack was allegedly carried out over a previous dispute, police said. The complainant, Devesh Pawar (25, Gajanan nagar), stated in his complaint that the accused confronted him near Janaki Hotel around 12.30 am and questioned him about intervening in their earlier quarrel. During the confrontation, the main accused, identified as Ram Rathod, allegedly stabbed Pawar in the abdomen with a knife, causing serious injuries. As Pawar’s friend, Prashant Kathar, tried to intervene and rescue him, Rathod allegedly stabbed him in the right side of the chest. The other accused, Suraj Jadhav and an unidentified person, allegedly held Kathar, assaulted both victims with kicks and slaps, and issued threats before fleeing the spot. Both injured persons were admitted to hospital, and the offence was registered based on the medico-legal case (MLC) report. Jawaharnagar police registered a case under relevent sections.
